Collus PowerStream

Electricity Retailers

What you need to know about Electricity Retailers

Before signing with an energy retailer, first know who you are dealing with.  There are four key things to remember before signing an energy contract:
  • Always make sure you get a business card and examine the sales persons ID badge;
  • Don’t share any personal information unless you are prepared to sign a contract;
  • Carefully read the contract, disclosure statement and price comparator supplied by the sales person;
  • The Ontario Energy Board does not go door to door.
One additional piece of advice: energy retailers do not work for Collus PowerStream.  If someone comes to your door and says he or she is with Collus PowerStream and ask to see your bill, that person does not work for Collus PowerStream.
If you are considering signing with an energy retailer, please visit the Ontario Energy Board's Knock, Knock website at, www.ontarioenergyboard.ca/OEB/Consumers/Energy+Contracts to become an informed consumer.
In addition visit the Bill Calculator, at www.ontarioenergyboard.ca/OEB/Consumers/Electricity/Your+Electricity+Utility. It will provide you with a comparison of time or use electricity charges to energy contract price.
If you have signed with an energy retailer please contact one of our customer service representatives and they can show you what you are currently paying for your electricity on a per kWh basis vs. what you would be paying if you were on time-of-use pricing.
If at any time you have any questions regarding someone at your door claiming to be a Collus PowerStream employee, or have questions regarding your energy contract, do not hesitate to contact our customer service representatives.
